Apply for a free MLAK key


Eligibility 

People with disability can request a free MLAK key, or carers can request one on their behalf. You will need to upload a copy of the proof of disability document and proof of residency document (if different) for the person with disability who the key will be assigned to, or show them to a customer service officer at Council. You can use one of the following documents for proof of disability:

  • Disability Parking Permit 

  • Disability Card or similar

  • Letter from your doctor

  • Letter from a disability organisation.

If your chosen document from the list above does not include your name and address, you will also need to provide one of the following documents that proves you are a resident of the Cairns Regional Council local government area: 

  • Drivers licence

  • Photo ID or Proof of Age card

  • Electricity, gas, internet or landline phone account

  • Rental lease agreement

  • Document from a government authority issued within the last six months (e.g. rates notice, official letter from Services Australia, Australian electoral document, Australian Taxation Office Notice of Assessment)

  • Bank statement or letter issued within the last six months.
