Volunteers.....WE NEED YOU!

Cairns Regional Council is calling for volunteers to join the Cairns Clean Up Crew. The crew will focus on helping people move rubbish (anything that will fit in a wheelbarrow) and place it on the kerb side for later collection and generally clean up around properties.

Please register your interest and the days you can be available.

Check your emails for muster points which will be determined daily depending on requirements. You will be advised by 3.30pm the day before.

I am fit and able to work
I am fit and able to work up to 5 hours per day
I am fit and able to undertake physical tasks of bending, squatting, lifiting (NO MORE THAN 20 kg) and repetative arm movement.
I am fit and able to work in humid conditions. *

Types of activites you will be undertaking in the community include:

Moving furniture to the roadside for collection - hard rubbish. DO NOT remove fixtures or fittings or anything that requires powered equipment.
DO NOT lift anyhting over 20kg - if required ensure there are 2 people
DO NOT rip up carpet or flooring
You will not be using water to clean due to restrictions
Power tools are not permitted
Rubish to be left at the curb to be collected, not to be taken to the trucks.

What to bring:

Please wear a hat, enclosed shoes, long sleeves and long pants
A small back pack with enough water for your shift, sunscreen, eye protection. If you can please bring a broom, mop or shovek, inspect repellent, gloves and face mask if required.
